John Mason "Mace" Roberts was born 25 December 1825 in Johnson Co., TN and died 12 February 1911, also in Johnson Co. He was a son of Jacob Roberts and Nancy Louraine Robinson. He was practicing medicine by 1850 in Johnson County. He was certified by the State Board under the Grandfather Clause, 21 August 1889, on oath of W.W. Adams and James Blankenbeckler. He married 1st Lucinda Arnold (1824-1872), 18 August 1844 and 2nd Catherine Phillippi (1845 - 1932), daughter of David Phillippi and Jestenia Crigger.
