Newton Hacker McCloud born May 28, 1895. He is pictured in his navy uniform in World War I.
Born at Cobbs Creek area, Butler, TN and married Chelsea Rhymer, the second daughter of Starling and Nora Copley Rhymer. Chelsea was born in 1910.
Newton entered the Navy in 1917 and served 16 years before leaving the service in 1933. He returned to the navy in 1940. He was a Boatswains Mate, First Class. Served on a tender at Norfolk, Va. He served in the Navy in World War I and World War II. He was a Chief Petty Officer.

We are not sure of the boat photos, I believe that they are World War II. Newton took these while on a ship and the ships around him were being fired upon.
