TAR Nelson made these notes in a rather loose, informal way, what would probably now be jotted down on a legal pad as a lawyer listens to a client's grieviance. Brace yourself for some very mean spirited words! Pam

WHITE alone
WHITE said he had sold his damned (?) old negrow Frank PERKINS for five dollars and had the money in his pocket - he said we have put one old negro by his oath and at the next court the work will be done for the balance - and he said old ???? could made no more, only what he raised on his farm, he said the PERKINS would or should be indebt (?) next court for the lives with their wives.
Robert L. GOODWIN
WHITE alone
I was talking with Tom COFFEE about a wagon I had bought of J. F. PERKINS. WHITE was by and said to me he would put me up for trading with his negros without his leave. I said I did not no it, he said you know it now. He asked me what I gave for the wagon. I told him. He said he (???) He would let me off as long as I gave a firm vow.

WHITE and wife
WHITES wife said to PERKINS I understand you will not let my negrow (sic) come here and he said they should not, and she said should come when they please, one negrow had privileges to go where others was and her negrows should there and she dare him to whip them. WHITE came rushing up with his gun and PERKINS started in to his house and WHITE said look how stable the damned old negro dobbing (?) walks
Jim DUGGER said to me that old Joshua PERKINs grandfather was a coal black negro and he succeeded as he wish to he would in debt them every Court for living with their wives. He said what made their hair thick was the Indian in (??). We was talking about Josh PERKINS and he Dugger said tell the old negro he need not trouble himself to go to the speaking for he did not intend he should vote.
Alfred (?) GREENWELL
DUGGER said to me they were going to have a speaking at the forge to see if the PERKINS had souls or no and if was acertained that they had no souls he would take his gun and go down and asked me if I would go, with my best impression that he said he would go down and kill them. He said he had them in fare way to put them all by their oath and he much intended to be done it if he could.
Isaac MOODY
(??) DUGGER said to me he had put old Jock PERKINS by his oath and he intended.. (unreadable, creased page) ...at the next Court if he could. He said they were going to have a speaking at the forge to see if the PERKINS had souls or not, if not be allowed to take his gun and go down and kill a parcel of them, he said they were like mules---mules was done breeding and these (? motsllirs??) when men that far had no souls.
