[Elijah Simerly Pearce information:
The Elijah Simerly Pearce/Pierce family lived at Siam and Shell Creek
communities of Carter County, later moving to Johnson County so the children
could attend Watauga Academy, previously known as Holly Springs College.
Watauga Academy became a boarding School for elementary and secondary
students. He was a native of Carter county, and prominent merchant and
farmer for many years. Elijah married Agnes Bowers first and they divorced.
His second wife was Julia Pierce daughter of Joseph and Delcenia Campbell
Pearce.
Julia 's brother Anderson K. Pearce is buried in the same cemetery.
